Des Plaines River Level Update: 9:30 AM - September 19th

As of 9:30 a.m. on September 19th, 2019 the Des Plaines River was at level of 9.32 feet according to reporting information provided by the National Weather Service (NWS). River levels continue to recede and are approaching "Minor" flood stage. Current forecasts show that there is a potential for rainfall north of Gurnee tonight and the potential for up to 1.5 inches of rain on Sunday. This could cause river levels to approach back to the "Moderate" flood stage.

At this time, the Village has begun to move sandbags and jersey barriers away from doorways but are keeping materials in place in the event conditions change this weekend. If conditions allow, the Village will begin picking up sandbags and jersey barriers on Monday, September 23rd.

The Village has re-opened all roads but Emerald Avenue, which remains closed. Please exercise caution when driving on roads with water on the pavement.

The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission continues to assess localized flooding. Residents can help Lake County document the extent of flooding by sending a photo and the location of flooding in or around their homes and neighborhood.
