Sharps Disposal Kiosk at Village Hall

Update 03/13/26: The sharps kiosk is no longer available due to improper use such as placing loose needles and uncontainerized sharps in the container creating a dangerous situation for those servicing it as well as the public. At this time, it is unknown whether it will return. Residents may place sharps in a sturdy plastic container such as a sharps container, detergent bottle or milk jug and dispose of it in the regular trash.

The Village has partnered with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) to provide a community a sharps kiosk at Village Hall (325 N. O’Plaine Road). Residents who use sharps, syringes or lancets to inject medications can use this kiosk to dispose of this medical waste. Medical waste is disposed of separately from other refuse in order to prevent it from ending up in the environment, where it can pose a risk of injury or infection to others.

The kiosk is located on the right hand side of the main entry doors to Village Hall. Residents can bring in any standard sharps container, up to about a 1.4 quart size, for disposal at the kiosk. Sharps containers are available for purchase from medical supply companies, pharmacies and some health providers. If the kiosk is full, please do not stack sharps containers outside the kiosk and simply come back.
