Trash Pickup Delay - January 30th and 31st

As a result of the forecasted below zero temperatures with negative wind chill that are of life-safety concern, Waste Management of Illinois, Inc. will suspend all trash and recycling collection services for Wednesday and Thursday (January 30 & 31) in Chicago and surrounding suburban area. “The safety of our employees during these severe cold weather conditions is our priority,” said Lisa Disbrow, spokesperson for Waste Management of Illinois, Inc. “Frostbite and hypothermia are of serious concern for our workers in these forecasted conditions.”

All commercial and municipal residential route collections have been suspended for Wednesday and Thursday in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, McHenry, and Will Counties.  Trash collection will resume on Friday for residential and commercial collection.  Residents with scheduled trash collection for Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday should place trash carts out by 6:00 a.m. on Friday for resumed service.  All trash carts will be serviced by end of Saturday.  Recycling carts will be serviced on next week’s normal collection day.   Customers with Wednesday, Thursday and Friday recycling service will have all recycling materials collected next week on their regular scheduled collection day.

“We appreciate the understanding and patience of our customers during this extreme cold weather conditions,” said Disbrow.
