Gurnee Police Department Seeks Citizen Police Academy Participants

GURNEE, IL – The Gurnee Police Department is currently seeking participants for the upcoming Citizen Police Academy class beginning on March 8, 2018 and ending on May 24, 2018.

The Gurnee Citizen Police Academy is a 36-hour block of instruction designed to give the public a working knowledge of the practices, policies, and procedures governing the police department.  The instruction consists of 11 three-hour blocks conducted on a weekly basis.  Classes will cover every facet of operations including the hiring/training process, the 9-1-1 call center, investigations, patrol, and more.  Hands-on participation is included whenever possible.  Participants must be at least 18 years of age and of good moral character with no felony convictions.

Classes will run Thursdays from March 8th to May 24th from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.  Anyone interested in attending the free 11 week course can obtain an application by contacting Public Education Specialist Tami Martin at (847) 599-7181 (TamiM@police.gurnee.il.us) or visiting the following link:
