GURNEE, IL – On Thursday, September 20^th, 2018, youth sports teams, organizations and neighborhood groups are invited to meet with representatives of Sports Facilities Advisory (SFA).  SFA has been retained by the Village of Gurnee to complete a Phase 1 Feasibility Study to explore the potential for a privately-owned and operated youth sports facility in Gurnee.

Meetings are open to the public and will be held at Gurnee Village Hall, 325 N. O’Plaine Road, on Thursday, September 20th, beginning at 2:30 p.m. for Gurnee residents, 3:30 p.m. for turf and court sports; and 4:30 p.m. for ice sports.  No RSVP is required.  

“While this proposal is still in the preliminary phases, we are excited for the potential of a youth/amateur sports facility in Gurnee and appreciate residents’ and user groups’ input into the process,” said Gurnee Mayor Kristina Kovarik.

At the conclusion of the Phase 1 feasibility study, the Village will have an understanding of the business model that best meets its definition of success; a sports facility program (spaces and sizes) that fulfills it; a detailed development budget; an operational start-up budget; a high-level overview of ancillary uses that could be synergistic in a mixed-use development; strategic alliances the Village might wish to pursue; and a proposed finance strategy for the development.
