Hefty ReNew Program
The Village of Gurnee, in partnership with Hefty, SWALCO and Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), has launched the Hefty ReNew™ program. This program is designed to complement current recycling efforts by establishing a way to collect otherwise hard-to-recycle plastics curbside, convert them into useful products and keep them out of landfills. These plastics include foam, food storage bags, candy/bar wrappers, chip bags, bubble wrap, packing peanuts and more. The program information referenced here is for Village of Gurnee residents within the corporate limits that have LRS as their waste and recycling hauler.
To participate, simply:
- Get a free started kit by clicking here or purchase a Hefty ReNew bag from Jewel, Menards, Ace Hardware or another participating retailer listed here.
- Place the plastics identified below or in the Guide of What's Accepted here in the bag.
- Close the bag and put the bag in your recycling cart.
- Leave your cart at the curb for collection on your service day.
