Delany Road Closure - Water Main Installation

The Village of Gurnee’s contractor, Lenny Hoffman Excavating, will be installing a new water main along Delany Road.  This project is part of the Village’s Capital Improvement Plan to remove the aging cast iron water main that is prone to breaking. The contractor intends to commence construction on Monday, September 23, 2019.  This project will require a full closure of Delany Road from US Route 41 to Old Grand Avenue and will limit residents’ access in and out of the subdivision. Delany Road will be open to local traffic only (residents), buses, and emergency vehicles. Grandview and Grandville Avenue will not have access to Delany Road for the duration of the project in order to control traffic flow and safety on Delany Road. See the attached map for the designated detour routes.

At times throughout the project, South or North Brown Circle will have temporary closures as the construction progresses along Delany. Follow construction detour signage to make sure you are exiting/entering the neighborhood at an accessible location.  Once construction is completed in the south block of Delany, then South Brown Circle will become the only access point for the subdivision from Old Grand Avenue. All access to and from Route 41 will be blocked as the pavement will be cut open and become impassible at several times during the project. Safety is our primary concern. Follow road closure signs until the project is complete and roads are reopened to traffic. Only emergency vehicles and local residents will have access during the day.  Allow yourself more time as the contractor may have to move equipment or flaggers to accommodate your exit from the subdivision during daytime hours.  We are coordinating pickup and drop-off times with both the local schools and their bus companies. The contractor will accommodate school pickups accordingly.  All other traffic will be detoured.

The Village will do its best to notify all residents either by mail or phone for traffic updates. For the most up to date information please visit the Village’s website at www.gurnee.il.us/construction-updates for construction updates or sign up for the construction update emails. We expect this project to be completed in November 2019, weather permitting. The Village also plans for more permanent road repairs to Delany Road in 2020.
