Temporary Closure of Old Grand Avenue under Canadian Pacific Railroad Bridge Begins Monday, January 20th

GURNEE, IL – A portion of Old Grand Avenue will be closed starting on Monday, January 20, 2020 due to scheduled maintenance on the Canadian Pacific Railroad Bridge crossing over Old Grand Avenue. The Canadian Pacific Railroad expects the work to be completed by Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

The bridge maintenance project will require closure of Old Grand Avenue between O’Plaine Road and North First Street to ensure the safety of the public and provide Canadian Pacific work crews a safe work environment. Traffic on Old Grand Avenue will be rerouted via detour signage to take IL-132/Grand Avenue.

The Canadian Pacific bridge maintenance project will repair the concrete ballast from a vehicular strike that occurred in December. The concrete that was damaged does not pose a structural risk to the bridge.

Access to Viking Middle School, Viking Park and local businesses will remain open throughout the project via Old Grand Avenue and O’Plaine Road.
