Warrant Issued for Burglary Suspect

Gurnee – A warrant has been issued for Michael B Edwards, 39, of Waukegan, Illinois for burglary.

On the morning of August 29, 2019, at approximately 5:07AM, officers responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Kenwood Avenue for a burglary to motor vehicle report. The victim’s vehicle was parked in the driveway overnight and the doors of the vehicle were unlocked. The glovebox and center console had been opened and items were thrown throughout the vehicle. Several items from inside the vehicle had been taken.

Investigators were able to obtain video surveillance of the suspect entering vehicles on the night of the incident. The images were posted on social media and the public was asked to help with identifying the suspect. Within hours, investigators had received a tip on the suspect’s identity.

After a thorough investigation, investigators identified the suspect as Edwards and obtained a warrant for his arrest on August 30, 2019.

Attempts to locate Edwards have been unsuccessful. The Gurnee Police Department is once again asking for the public’s assistance by helping to locate him. He is not believed to armed or dangerous, but if anyone sees him they should not approach and call the police.

All suspects accused of a crime are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
