GURNEE, Ill. (Aug. 24, 2017) – Simon (NYSE:SPG), a global leader in premier shopping, dining and entertainment destinations, today announced plans for an extensive interior renovation to Gurnee Mills. The two million sq. ft. center, home to nearly 200 outlet and full-price retailers along with family-friendly dining and entertainment offerings, will soon provide Lake County shoppers a more enjoyable shopping experience with an upgraded atmosphere.

Scheduled to begin in early September, the dynamic mix of renovations will create a brighter, more inviting atmosphere inside the center, including a modernized color palette. Specific plans include:

• Installing LED lighting throughout the center.
• Adding new soft seating and planters in common areas.
• Refinishing hardwood floors.
• Replacing skylights and adding floating ceilings.
• Updating the food court with a fresh color scheme and enhanced lighting.Refurbishing wayfinding and directional signage to provide shoppers a more comprehensive guide to retailer, entertainment and dining options throughout the center.

“This renovation is a highly-anticipated project for the community,” said Randy Ebertowski, general manager of Gurnee Mills. “Our goal is to create an enhanced shopping experience for our local shoppers, as well as the thousands of people who visit us from outside Lake County each week. Our management team is fully committed
to minimizing shopper disruption during the transformation, and the majority of work will be done overnight while the mall is closed.”
