Top Stories of 2019: #6 Gurnee, Waukegan and Lake County Conduct Ambient Air Monitoring for Ethylene Oxide

In response to concerns regarding ethylene oxide emissions from two sources in Lake County (Vantage Specialty in Gurnee and Medline Industries in Waukegan), Gurnee, Waukegan and the Lake County Health Department partnered to conduct ambient air monitoring to determine the levels of ethylene oxide in the air. The second round of testing is currently underway and is slated to be completed in January 2020. Samples are being collected from 12 sites, which includes ten sites near the facilities and two remote sites. For a complete list of updates on ethylene oxide and detailed monitoring results, visit www.gurnee.il.us/eto.
