Top 10 of 2018: #5 Construction Begins for Knowles Road Water Tower

To increase water pressure west of I-94 and add redundancy and storage to the Gurnee water system, the Village is installing a two million gallon tank at 1525 Knowles Road. This tower will be a multi-year project, funded through a combination of capital improvement funds and a low-interest Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA). The first phase of the project was the installation of a booster pump station on the Bittersweet Golf Course Maintenance Facility property, with foundation work and general construction set to begin in 2019. The anticipated construction completion will be in 2020.
