DES PLAINES RIVER LEVEL: Updated April 18, 2026: NOAA's crest prediction is 10.5 feet on Sunday, April 19. Yesterday evening, the area received over 1.5 inches of rain. Grand Avenue is now closed in both directions between Milwaukee Avenue and O’Plaine Road. Emerald Avenue and the west end of McClure Avenue, Kilbourne Road between Grand Avenue and Route 41, Old Grand Avenue between Grand Avenue and Emerald Avenue are closed. Public Works has sandbags available for pickup. Village staff will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.

LRS will provide free unlimited yard waste collection for residents who do not pay an HOA for service during the weeks beginning April 20 and April 27. Yard waste must be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on your pickup day and set out in kraft paper bags, rigid cans, or bundled brush that meets size and weight limits.
