DES PLAINES RIVER LEVEL: As of 11 A.M. this morning, Thursday, April 16, NOAA updated its prediction model and forecasted the Des Plaines River to crest at 9.70 feet early Saturday morning as the river currently stands at 9.22 feet. Once it crests, the river is expected to recede very slowly, remaining out of its banks until the middle of next week. Emerald Avenue and the west end of McClure Avenue remain closed to traffic. At this time, no other roadways are currently impacted. The current forecast shows about 0.60" of rain during the evening hours of Friday into Saturday.
Public Works has sand and bags available for residents and businesses that wish to make sandbags. Village staff will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
LRS will provide free unlimited yard waste collection for residents who do not pay an HOA for service during the weeks beginning April 20 and April 27. Yard waste must be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on your pickup day and set out in kraft paper bags, rigid cans, or bundled brush that meets size and weight limits.
